The Tiaty MP William Kamket says KANU was preparing to present a presidential candidate in the upcoming polls.

Speaking at Mosop constituency in Nandi county on Sunday, Kamket expressed optimism that Senator Moi will get the support of other leaders as he seeks to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I can tell you for a fact that in 2022 KANU will have a presidential candidate and that will be none other than Gideon Moi," said the MP.

"We are holding talks with other leaders to strategize on how we can form a strong and solid coalition," he added.

The vocal KANU MP further said a recent visit by the opposition chief Raila Odinga to retired President Daniel Moi at his Kabarak home was part of the strategies to reach him ahead of 2022.

He challenged Kenyans to be cautious when picking the next president saying the task was not as simple as picking a chairman of a council of Elders.

The Baringo Senator has not personally declared interests for the top seat but his lieutenants have been insisting that he will vie against Deputy President William Ruto who is seen as favorite to succeed President Kenyatta after he serves his two terms.
