A decision to include Baringo to the list of marginalised counties which will see the devolved unit benefit from the Equalisation Fund has been lauded by Senator Gideon Moi.

During his re-election campaign held in Cheberen in Mogotio Sub-county, he told residents that he is doing all he can to ensure Baringo County profits from the fund.

He differentiated Baringo from counties such as Samburu, West Pokot, Turkana and Narok that suffer from social-economic challenges.

The Senator believes that if the county had been included in the list earlier issues dealing with food, insecurity and drought would have been dealt with sooner.

He shared how he fought to implement the decision in Senate and is eagerly awaiting approval from Parliament.

If Baringo was to benefit from the Equalisation Fund it would see it and other marginalized units receive Sh7.7 billion for the 2017/2018 financial year.

Gideon has asked politicians to promote peace during the election period and has supported President Uhuru Kenyatta’s stand to not postpone elections.
