Addressing residents during a funds drive in aid of an SDA Church in Nyangoge, Borabu constituency, Mong'are said Gusii leaders have every right to engage President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto on matters development.

"Gusii leaders must engage the national government on the 85% of the national budget which remains in Nairobi," said Mong'are on Sunday.

Mong'are further took issue with a section of politicians for criticising political leaders from Gusii region who recently visited State House, Nairobi.

" I have seen some people peddling falsehoods that when our people go to Nairobi, they have gone for handouts. If Honourable Chris Obure  (Kisii Senator) who was a former finance minister, a veteran, liberal Kisii politician goes to State House, some busy-bodies say he has gone for handouts but how much money can you buy such leaders with?" posed Mong'are.
