Presidential candidate Kennedy Mong'are has mourned the death of Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua.
In his condolence message on Friday, Mong'are commiserated with the family and Nyeri people on the unfortunate demise of the county chief.
The Nyamira Senator described Gachagua as "a vibrant politician who always put the interests of the people first."
"Fellow Kenyans, I have learnt with profound shock about the untimely death of Nyeri Governor Hon. Nderitu Gachagua whom I had interacted with in the line of duty," read Mong'are's statement in part.
"A humble servant of the people of Nyeri who had served his electorate in various capacities tirelessly," he added.
The governor reportedly died on Friday morning at a London hospital after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was 64.
