Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mong'are Okong'o has criticised the two rallies by ODM and Jubilee Party that were held over the weekend saying they were aimed at benefitting few individuals and not Kenyans.
Mong'are who spoke to this writer on the phone, said the meetings were just a contest of political might between the two parties.
"The two political rallies over the weekend showed that Kenyans may be taken for a ride for a long time. Neither ODM nor Jubilee have the interests of Kenyans at heart. It's like chasing a mirage. Kenyans need to wake up from their deep slumber and act now for their future and that of the generations to come," said Mongare.
The Senator said the misuse of public funds orchestrated in Cord-led counties is worse as compared to the Jubilee governed zones.
"To the brethren in Gusiiland, my plea is for you to interrogate the journey of the sons and daughters of the Omogusii. Since 1963, our sons, for instance, left a mark in the previous regimes. In a national course, they did the nation a great service. In community and societal good, that I shall leave to the historians," he said.
"Several leaders (all deceased), among them Dr Lawrence George Sagini, James Nyamweya, Dr Zachary Onyonka, John Andrew Omanga, George Moseti Anyona, Thomas Mongare Masaki, Sen. Kebaso and George Morara left impeccable remarks in both the national and local affairs. We also have mzee Simeon Nyachae who made tremendous strides to propel the Omogusii to the national stature both as the chief secretary and secretary to the Cabinet. The Omogusii was held in high esteem though the trickle effect and benefit to Omogusii may be left to political historians and economists to judge."
"The one million dollar question to the sons and daughters of Mwanyagetinge to ponder and interrogate is; will the Omogusii's interest be secured by voting either for Jubilee or Cord?" Either Mong'are is pondering of the hullabaloo about ''the unity of the Omogusii'' which he terms as a subjective crusade, biased towards one political dispensation, and lacks objective in midwifery of the interests of the Omogusii," he added.
