Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have been asked to put their political differences aside and work together for the good of the people.

Area Senator Boniface Kabaka cautioned that lack of unity among leaders would do the county a great harm.

"I am asking MCAs and the governor to stop fighting and focus on serving the locals," he said.

The Senator added: "Leadership wrangles have paralysed the county government's work at the expense of development."

His remarks comes after Mutua accused the county assembly of blackmailing him in a bid to pass a bloated budget.

"The House is asking for Sh1.3 billion when it had previously been allocated Sh720 million," the county boss claimed last week.

However, Majority Leader in the Assembly Francis Ngunga dismissed the allegation as true.

Senator Kabaka also revealed he will sponsor a bill in the Senate seeking to allow the National Treasury to separately fund the Executive and Assemblies.
