Kitui Senator David Musila has denied ever endorsing President Uhuru Kenyatta for re-election.

Reports emerged over the weekend that the lawmaker who is now eyeing the Kitui gubernatorial seat had endorsed President Kenyatta for second term.

He was accompanied with Kibwezi West MP Francis Nyenze, who also called on locals to reelect the Head of State.

But speaking to Citizen TV on Monday, Musila affirmed his support for NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, denying shifting allegiance.

“I did not endorse the president; I said leaders should be chosen based on merits. I am fully supporting NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga,” he noted.

He, however, noted that he felt aggrieved with NASA's call for the electorate to reject independent candidates eyeing elective seats.

“NASA has failed by treating independent candidates like their enemies. I have even told them this because during a recent rally in Ukambani only leaders from NASA affiliate parties were allowed to talk,” he noted.

Musila is seeking to unseat governor Julius Malombe as an independent candidate after he lost the Wiper Party ticket to the county chief during the primaries.
