Machakos Woman Representative Agnes Kavindu has pleaded with youth to be peace ambassadors and preach unity across the country ahead of next month general election.

Kavindu says that country needs to remain united before, during and after the polls, adding that young people are the best suited to preach the peace message.

Addressing youth at Mulu-Mutisya grounds in Machakos on Sunday, the Jubilee Woman Rep hopeful asked youth to use their numbers and preach for reconciliation.

Kavindu said that the August 8 polls is not a matter of life and death, adding that peace has to prevail.

“I am calling upon young people across the country to be on the front-line in preaching for peace and reconciliation as we head to the general election,” she said as quoted by the People Daily.

The Jubilee woman Rep hopeful also asked young people to shun politicians who might want to lure them to violence. She said some selfish politicians could be preying on youth with aim of misusing them in their campaigns.

“We must stay off people with evil minds who want to use as the weapons of violence,” she said. Kavindu at the same time pleaded with youth to vote for her in the August 8 polls.

Senator Johnson Muthama’s ex-wife promised to push for employment creation and empowerment of marginalized groups if she is elected in the August 8 general election.

The Jubilee Woman Rep hopeful  said that she is the best bet for the job, adding that she will not disappoint residents if they elect her on August 8.

Kavindu is eyeing to unseat incumbent Dr Susan Musyoka who is seeking re-election as an independent candidate after losing the Wiper ticket to Joyce Kamene in the nomination.

Others in the Woman rep race are Francisca Mutinda vying on Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party, Jane Ndeti vying on Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) and Rita Ndunge contesting as an independent candidate.
