Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has been dealt a big blow after his personal assistant called it quits with him.
Benson Metho Jr who was the senator’s PA has declared to challenge Muthama during the upcoming elections using Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) ticket.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke via telephone, Metho confirmed that he is no longer the senator’s personal assistant.
In the past, Metho has been a strong support of Wiper party and Cord. This was clear when he joined the opposition during the demonstrations to oust Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
He is also accredited for playing a great role in advising Muthama during the talks to smoke out IEBC commissioners from office.
Metho has said that his decision to quit has come at the right time where he wants to start building his political career. He also added that he has been having ideological differences with the senator, which forced him to end their long-term relationship.
Metho’s decision is likely to give Muthama sleepless nights as he looks forward to defending his seat come 2017.
Muthama is also planning to contest using Cord’s ticket in the upcoming general elections. Despite being regarded as one of the most influential leaders in Ukambani, Muthama has to counter Metho before things run out of control.
