Mutula said the move could  halt the electoral reforms process.

According to kbctv.co.ke, he now wants Speakers of both Houses to help address the matter and end the deadlock.

On Wednesday, the Senate passed the JSPC report without amendments, but it was met with stiff resistance from the National Parliament over the party hopping clause.

On Thursday, the MPs approved the report following the deletion of the clause.

The conflict between the two Houses now threatens to disrupt the timelines set out in appointing new IEBC commissioners even as the 2017 polls draw nigh.

The Makueni Senator now wants the amended bill from the National Assembly tabled before the Senate for either approval or rejection.

He wondered why the MPs voted against provisions which had been agreed upon by coalition principals - President Uhuru Kenyatta (Jubilee) and Raila Odinga (Cord).

He also questioned why the lawmakers acted in the manner they did taking into account the magnanimity of the matter warning that the development has far-reaching ramifications.
