A Jubilee allied senator has warned that ongoing products and services boycott by some of the opposition supporters might end up hurting innocent Kenyans.

Uasin Gishu Senator Prof. Margaret Kamar says boycott calls by opposition leaders are unfortunate and ill-advised.

Speaking in Eldoret on Sunday, Kamar noted that companies that opposition want their supporters to boycott their products and services employ people from across the country irrespective of their political affiliations.

"What happens when Safaricom, Bidco, Equity bank or any other company being affected by the boycott decides not to employ people from NASA strongholds? You'll be killing innocent Kenyans who are employed by those companies," noted Prof. Kamar.

"To me, those boycott calls aren't helpful to a common mwananchi. In fact, it is disadvantageous and will end up putting many jobs at risk," she added.

The senator further warned that in the event the boycott affected the country's economic growth, it would trickle down to affecting people's livelihoods both allied to Jubilee and those in opposition.
