Kisii County Senator Chris Obure seems to maintain his stance on supporting the Jubilee government in next year’s elections.
The senator, who was elected on an ODM ticket, maintained this while speaking during a burial ceremony of former powerful minister Simeon Nyachae’s wife on Monday in Kisii.
During the burial, which was attended by majority of leaders from both Kisii and Nyamira Counties, Obure and a few other leaders keen on working with the national government continued the push to have locals support their bid to work with Jubilee.
The leaders who spoke drummed for the unity of the Gusii community, going a step further to invite the likes of Governor James Ongwae and his Nyamira counterpart John Nyagarama to join the bandwagon.
"I am inviting governors Ongwae and Nyagarama to join us in the push for the Omogusii unity because the same was started by Mzee Nyachae," said Richard Onyonka, who spoke on behalf of the MPs.
Other leaders who attended the burial included Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s sister, Christina Pratt, Governors James Ongwae (Kisii) and John Nyagarama (Nyamira), Senators Chris Obure (Kisii), David Musila (Kitui) and Janet Ong'era (nominated), ministry of Social Services PS Susan Mochache and Central Bank of Kenya chairman Mohammed Nyaoga, as well as Kenya Commercial Bank CEO Joshua Oigara.
