Lack of information by registered self-help groups on how to receive money and develop themselves is among the things that hold back development.
Youth groups and women groups from the county of Kisii are said to lack information on how to receive money from various kitties and how to receive tenders in the process.
Kisii county Senator Chris Obure has said that many groups lack the knowhow of accessing the money and are requesting to be trained on how to use the money and make some profit on top of it.
Speaking in Kisii town, the senator said that the women are the foundation of all lives in the County of Kisii and they should really be helped adding that the youth are the hope of tomorrow noting that, that is the reason they need the money.
“These mothers here are the givers of life to all of us; they take care of our children and also take care of us their husbands. They take care of our homes and the youth is our hope going forward and we want them to be prepared for the life of tomorrow,” he said.
Bobaracho self-help group that has up to 350 members said it has been pursuing the money all along but have never succeeded.
Henry Mabeya the secretary to the group said he has been using money from the group to educate his children but it is still not enough and that is why they want to get something from Uwezo fund and called on the government to educate them on the same.
