Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to consider the Maasai community for one of the powerful cabinet positions as he reshuffles his cabinet.

In a statement on his twitter account Tuesday, the lawmaker said that the community has only known the Ministry of Interior Security since the president assumed power, calling for a change of tact.

According to the senator, the community should be considered for either the Education or Agriculture dockets in Uhuru's second and last term.

''The Maa community should now be rewarded with powerful ministries like Agriculture and Education. We are tired of being given the Ministry of Interior. We deserve better,'' he says.

The ministry, upon the entrance of Uhuru in 2013,was held by the now Kajiado county governor Joseph Ole Lenku who was was later sacked over growing cases of insecurity, including the West gate Mall terror attack.

He was succeeded by Kajiado Central lawmaker Joseph Ole Nkaissery who steered the ministry until his death on July 7 2017,before it was again passed on to Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i on an acting capacity.
