Mombasa Senator and Wiper Party secretary general Omar Hassan has joined millions of Kenyans from different parts of the nation in congratulating Justice David Maraga on his nomination as the Chief Justice and the President of the Supreme Court of Kenya.
Omar said that Maraga is the right person to steer the Judiciary to the right direction.
The outspoken senator said he trusts Maraga to spearhead the pursuit for a transformative agenda, re-energising public trust, ensuring observance and adherence to the rule of law as well as deal with corruption, which is considered to be the greatest challenge towards attaining vision 2030.
Speaking on behalf of Wiper Party, Omar said that they support Maraga’s appointment.
“As a Political Movement, we take cognizance of the Justice’s professionalism coupled with integrity as he served as judge,” Omar said.
The senator also said they have no doubt that Maraga will continue to transform the Judiciary as started by his predecessor, Justice Willy Mutunga.
“We wish to note that Justice Maraga comes in as Chief Justice at a time of waning public confidence and allegations of partisanship in the Judiciary,” said Omar.
Maraga surprised the entire nation in 2012, when he swore he has never received a bribe from anyone.
