Speaking to the press on Thursday evening, Omar said that the residents of Mombasa County were fed up with the lies told by the current county government while other counties were busy developing.

“We want to send a very strong message to Governor Joho that his time is up. Let him pack up and go and let those with focused development agendas take up the county’s leadership. Come August next year I am going to teach him a political lesson," said the senator.

Omar also alluded that he was in no business of asking for votes from either Cord or Jubilee supporters saying that he was firmly on the ground to ask for votes from all the Mombasa residents.

Other reports say that the former Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) chairman could be on his way from Wiper party to Jubilee.
