Political leaders in Mombasa County have cautioned Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar for his recent outburst and criticism against Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
Led by Mombasa Women Representative Mishi Mboko, the leaders said that the senator was portraying the county in bad light and washing their dirty linen in public whereas the concerns he was raising could be solved in a better way.
“No one is objecting that Hassan Omar is the senator for Mombasa, but he is not the only senator in Kenya. No one is against him overseeing the county government of Mombasa but he should be reminded that Mombasa is bigger than him,” said Mrs Mboko.
The sentiments come barely two days after senator Omar castigated Joho that he was only good at partaking in Shisha joints and had no other development agenda for the county.
On his part Kisauni Member of Parliament Rashid Bedzimba told the senator to transverse the county looking for votes in a gentleman way, and stop hauling insults now and then at an elected leader.
"All we are asking for is for the senator to respect the governor, he is behaving immaturely by hurling insults at him and yet the governor never responds to the insults," said the Kisauni Legislator.
The leaders were addressing a joint press conference at a Mombasa hotel on Thursday afternoon.
