Wiper Party Secretary General and Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has dismissed Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze's remarks suggesting that the Kamba community got a raw deal in the Opposition alliance NASA presidential line up.
Speaking to the Standard newspaper on Friday, the legislator said Nyenze's remarks were purely personal and do not represent the position of the Wiper Democratic Movement Party.
"We appreciate that our party has a significant support base in Ukambani, but that's not to say it's a Kamba party. I highly suspect he (Nyenze) was speaking for Kambas because he doesn't speak for the party. The fact of the matter is that we made the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good and we were satisfied that it was the best thing to do," Omar.
NASA last week Thursday settled on ODM Leader Raila Odinga as the outfit's presidential candidate, with Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka expected to deputize the former premier in the Opposition's presidential ticket.
