ODM leader Raila Odinga's six-piece call is continuing to elicit mixed reactions among politicians in the Coast region.
Senator Hassan Omar who is eying the Mombasa governor position on a Wiper Party ticket is the latest politician to weigh in on the matter that is now brewing into a storm in the region.
In an interview with the Nation, Omar criticized the idea which he said is ODM's tactic to get sympathy votes during the August polls.
"The call for voting six-piece ODM candidates in Mombasa is not justified. It is wrong for leaders to herd people into party slogans to get sympathy," he said.
ODM swept all Mombasa County Assembly seats in the 2013 elections and five out of the six parliamentary seats in Mombasa with Wiper Party only clinching the Jomvu MP seat and Senator position.
However, Omar who hopes for a better return this time round has told ODM that it will not be business as usual, adding that the political dynamics of the county have changed.
"It's a scheme to get voters' sympathy, otherwise, they will not win a single seat in Mombasa. It's not business as usual. It's not 2013,” added the outspoken Senator.
