The stage has been set for grueling political campaigns for the Mombasa governor seat following the unveiling of hotelier Linda Shuma, 39, as Senator Hassan Omar's running mate in the run to the August 8 polls. And as many had expected, Omar picked his deputy from the Mijikenda community, the single largest voting bloc in the county as a way to balance his political stakes. While speaking during her unveiling, the Senator who is vying on a Wiper ticket said he is confident Shuma's entry into his political bandwagon will give his team fresh impetus in his bid to unseat the incumbent, Governor Hassan Joho.He added that the pair will be able to deliver the much-needed good governance in the county.“Devolution was all about revolution to bring good governance to our people. That is what we are bringing to the people of Mombasa,” he said. With Jubilee's Suleiman Shahbal already having a running mate in Ananiah Mwaboza and Vibrant Democratic Movement candidate Hezron Awiti having picked Hassan Mwamtoa, it's only Joho who is yet to unveil his deputy.
