Senator Hassan Omar on Wednesday promised to make Mombasa the best county in the country if elected governor in the forthcoming August elections.Speaking during an iftar dinner he hosted at the Burhani grounds in Mombasa, Omar said he has what it takes to run the county effectively and efficiently.The Wiper candidate promised to form an all-inclusive government where people will not be discriminated against based on their gender, racial background or religion.“In my government you will not be employed or given tender because you have a light skin or you are a Muslim or this and that tribe, male or female. You will get what you deserve purely on considerations of merit in a just and transparent manner,” he said as quoted by the Nation.The outspoken Senator said he will give both men and women equal opportunities to exploit their maximum potential and contribute equally to the development of the coastal county.“Leadership is good policy and agenda. My leadership will be focused on these two. Everyone will be protected and given equal opportunities,” the Senator stated.Omar pledged to set up an investment council in the first 100 days after taking office that will look into the welfare of business people in the county including micro, small and medium enterprises.He also said his administration will enhance infrastructural development which is the engine for growth as it will reduce the cost of doing business.Omar urged Mombasa residents to support his bid for governorship and vote for National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga in the general election slated for August 8, 2017.The Mombasa Senator will face off with Governor Hassan Joho (ODM), Jubilee's Suleiman Shahbal and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti in the August polls.
