Speaking during a phone interview,  Mong'are criticised the budget saying the Sh304 billion allocated to counties in the financial year 2016-17 is not enough for the devolved units to run their operations.

"It is a pity that the Treasury CS Henry Rotich can set aside Sh304 billion for the county governments against the recommended amount by the Commission for Revenue Allocation of Sh377 billion," he said.

Mong'are further urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to seek other alternatives of increasing funding to county governments to help run their functions smoothly.

"I urge President Uhuru Kenyatta to seek aid from development partners so that county governments can have more monies for projects," added Mong'are.
