Speaking on Saturday at Shaletee Mixed Secondary School in Wajir South, Hassan denied claims that he was retiring from politics because of fear that he will lose his seat during the next general polls.

According to Hassan, nothing can come between him and his family including his political career.

“It’s sometimes important to look at the bigger picture and in this case it is the unity of my family that matters most. It’s important that we remain united,” Hassan said, as quoted by Star.

The senator added that he has given his people the best he could and time has come for him to rest.

He further noted that he is the only leader who has won three elections in a row from this part of the nation, which is something that makes him proud of himself.

“I think I’m the only politician in Wajir who has won three consecutive general elections,” he said.

The outspoken leader affirmed that he will be back the region’s next government in order to transform the livelihoods of the residents.

He went to remind other leaders and residents that there is life after politics adding that time has come for the youths to take over leadership.
