Speaking on Radio Jambo Wednesday evening, the Senator further called for tough penalties against the latest National Youth Service (NYS) scandal suspects, blamed for the loss of close to 9 billion shillings at the youth agency.

He stressed on the need for those found culpable in the ongoing probe to be sent to the nation's worst prisons, proposing Kamiti and Shimo La Tewa maximum security prisons, in a bid to contain the trend.

"We are having a situation where people are no longer stealing but clearing anything they come across and whoever is proved guilty in the ongoing probe should be taken to either Kamiti or Shimo La Tewa prisons," said the Senator.

He further urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to not relent in the fight against the menace, saying that his legacy largely depends on how he addresses the issue.

"The President must not relent in the fight against corruption if he is to retain Kenyans' trust. By retreating, he will have betrayed Kenyans whom he has promised to spearhead the fight," he added.

The President has since ordered a fresh vetting on all government accountants.
