Homabay Senator Moses Kajwang has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta over his Wednesday's national apology and the newly-launched national forgiveness campaign.
Speaking on Radio Maisha Thursday, the Senator noted that opposition leader Raila Odinga should also be expected to issue his apologies soon, in line with their recent truce and joint national cohesion initiative.
"In line with the reconciliation spirit founded and spearheaded by the two, it is likely that Odinga will soon follow suit and also apologize to people he might have rubbed wrongly in his political moves," he said.
He however noted that the apology is likely to have casualties, especially in the political arena.
The opposition lawmaker said that there exists a class of politicians and political leaders whose political survival depends on the former Prime Minister, stating that his perennial critics and attackers are set for a loss.
"His apology will be a blow to people in the political arena who have made a career out of his name and are surviving by attacking him. Cleansing his name will leave them without anything to cling onto," he stated.
In his speech in parliament, Kenyatta appealed for forgiveness to any Kenyan he might have wronged in his daily operations, especially the concluded election campaigns.
