An ODM senator has told off President Uhuru Kenyatta over his support for the Salaries and Remuneration Commission's (SRC) move to reduce MPs salaries.
Speaking during an interview with NTV on Wednesday, Narok County Senator Ledama ole Kina claimed that the President was supporting the Sarah Serem-led commission because he is 'rich enough'."The president is rich enough and that is why he is backing the SRC to frustrate legislators. As senators we deserve more funds to enable us discharge our duties," he said.
Kina added that his Narok backyard comprising six constituencies was too expansive and thus should have more resources allocated for its oversight.
Kina's sentiments came in the wake of a simmering discontentment between MPs and the salaries body with some legislators saying that the commision is keen on demeaning them and turning them into beggars. And on Thursday the presidentially once more stood his ground that he fully supports the SRC and slammed MPs calling for a pay hike way before their swearing in ceremony.
