Senator Mithika Linturi has taken the University of Nairobi to court to challenge the university's decision to deregister him as a law student.
The deregistration was triggered by revelations that he used fake academic papers to seek admission to the higher learning institution.
Linturi's name was on a list that was handed to the IEBC of individuals that the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) wanted to be disqualified for contesting political positions in the August 2017 elections.
Linturi argued that his deregistration was the culmination of a political witchhunt initiated by former Mer governor, Peter Munya, and a man identified as Mr. Milton Mugambi Imanyara.
The case has listed the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission as an interested party.
''It was an illegal, unreasonable, and utter show of bad faith for the university to deregister Mr. Linturi without conducting its own independent investigations or informing him at the very least to afford him the opportunity of being heard.'' Tom Ojienda his lawyer said.
