Nakuru County Senator James Mungai has supported the ongoing debate in Nakuru County to recall Kinuthia Mbugua over alleged corruption.
Mungai accused the county government of Nakuru of demolishing kiosks located in Molo town without consulting the local leaders.
"It is very sad for the county government to demolish kiosks without consulting the leaders. It also did not give an alternative place where such kiosks should be built.”
He added: “The Kiosks which have been demolished are sources of livelihood for many. At the moment instead of creating employment opportunities, the county government which is headed by Governor Kinuthia Mbugua is destroying the opportunities."
Speaking in Molo town on Wednesday, Mungai said that by destroying the kiosks without giving people who do their business an alternative place to work, the governor clearly showed that he did not care about such people.
He said: "The kiosks pay licenses and also give income to the owners. Why demolish them? The Governor should come and apologise to the people affected. I have now joined hands with all those who have been calling for his resignation.”
“It is high time he be recalled over alleged corruption allegations that has been going round," Mungai said.
The kiosks were destroyed on Wednesday morning.
