Mwongori Secondary School students will enjoy the services of the new library whose construction had stalled by January next year, Nyamira senator has pledged.

The construction of the library had stalled after the institution’s management failed to raise funds towards its completion having constructed a modern dormitory and a science laboratory.

Speaking on Thursday at the institution, Senator Mong’are Okong’o said he was keen to ensure the library is completed in time to allow students use the facility.

He said his decision was informed by good results the school recorded in the last seven years, leading in Borabu constituency while competing in the same league with Nyambaria and Sironga secondary schools in the national examinations.

I understand the school has been running a number of projects hence the stalling of this important project. I will provide resources to ensure the library is completed in time. The performance of the institution has been quite impressive and I think as leaders, we have an obligation to help them perform even better,” he said.

Mong’are urged the county leadership to allocate resources to the education sector and help top up the support given by the national government.

“I know that education is not a devolved function, but it will be prudent if the county government allocates a few resources towards equipping our schools with facilities. After all, education is the key to development in our county,” he said.

Mong’are said the construction of the library which is expected to host over 300 students will resume soon.
