The schism between Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua and Senator James Mungai has been re-ignited after the senator promised to rehabilitate all roads allegedly ignored by the county government.
Speaking on Sunday after touring Naivasha where he promised to kickstart the project in five wards, Mungai accused the county government of engaging in selective development projects.
Mungai promised to foot the cost of rehabilitation out of his own pocket to the tune of Sh500 million.
"Our county government has decided to overlook certain areas and is only prioritising needless projects. Our roads are dilapidated and no one seems concerned, I will personally renovate them," he said.
Mungai and governor Mbugua disagreed openly during this year's Madaraka Day celebrations at Afraha Stadium where he accused the governor of loosing touch with the electorate, orchestrating the arrest and constant harassment of Nakuru Town East legislator David Gikaria and misusing public funds.
Mbugua on his part challenged the senator to go to the grassroots and see for himself the projects the county government had initiated instead of relying on hearsay.
