[Photo/Elvanis Ronoh]Uasin Gishu senator Prof. Margaret Kamar has urged athletes to invest wisely. She said that some prominent athletes had remained poor despite them earning huge amount of money after winning world medals.“I urge especially the upcoming athletes to invest wisely especially in real estate since you never know what tomorrow holds for you, you might get an injury and that’s the end for you. Why should you misuse your hard earned money?,” she said during the athletics time trials at Moi University school of law, Wednesday.“I am not happy when sometimes I see some athletes living luxurious lives and not investing for their future. I call upon the professional athletes to advise the upcoming athletes on how to invest and their lives will never be the same again,” she added. She, however, cautioned them against involving themselves in doping saying it's against the law and those found will face the full force of the law.“Athletes should use their talents and avoid involving in illegal acts such as doping that will ruin their career. They should just earn from their sweat and nothing else,” noted Prof. Kamar.
