Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has begged locals to endorse his re-election bid promising to push for their interests especially for women and youths in the senate.

Speaking during a meet the people tour in Kabete constituency on Thursday, Wamatangi said that he will push for polices that will create employment for young people and empower women.

Wamatangi said that unemployment is still a big problem in Kiambu.

The senator observed that lack of jobs has seen young people engage in crime and other social evils.

“One of my key agenda if I win re-election will be to push for laws and policies that will create jobs for the youth and empower women,” he said as quoted by the Star.

The senate lawmaker also promised to empower persons living with disabilities who he said have been neglected by Governor William Kabogo’s administration.

Wamatangi slammed at Kabogo’s administration claim that it has not solved the issue of unemployment and empowerment of marginalized groups.

The senator further accused Kabogo of failing to include women, youths and disabled persons in his government.

“What I will be fighting for if re-elected will be equal opportunity for all groups,” he added.

Wamatangi warned locals against being influenced to vote for certain politicians urging them to make their own independent decisions.

“Voting is your personal right and no one should force anyone to vote for him or her,” he said.

The Kiambu senator said that he is not afraid of the rivals eyeing to unseat him in the August polls.

Wamatangi faces stiff competition in his re-election bid.

Several aspirants among them Ngewa MCA Karungo Thang’wa has declared interest in his seat.
