As he officially joins the race to unseat the incumbent Governor John Mruttu, Taita Taveta Senator Dan Mwazo is oozing with confidence that he will clinch the seat with ease come August.

Just a fortnight ago, Mwazo became the latest senior politician from the region to ditch the Raila Odinga-led ODM Party for Jubilee.Speaking on Monday during the selection of nine board members to oversee Jubilee Party nominations in the county, the former Voi MP declared that he is the second Taita Taveta Governor."I will be the second Governor by August 9 this year. As I speak to you now, I am talking as your Governor. I walk and sleep as your Governor," he said. With Jubilee making inroads in the region considered an ODM turf, the battle for the county top seat is expected to go to the wire considering the popularity of the opposition in the county.Just recently, during the ODM coast declaration rally at the Tononoka grounds, Governor Mruttu who has equally honed his political skills promised to keep Jubilee encroachment out of the county even as he predicted that he will romp to a comfortable win.
