Busia Senator Amos Wako has lauded retired Chief Justice Willy Mutunga for his achievements in transforming the Judiciary.
The former Attorney General said delivery of justice had greatly improved in the country given the nationwide construction of courts, increased number of judges, Khadhis and the one third gender representation at the Court of Appeal.
"The judicial Service Commission has attained a commendable service delivery capacity during this tenure. Eight of the twenty five judges at the Court of Appeal are women, the number of Judges tripled and Kadhis increased four times. This implies that justice can now be delivered to all including those who had been marginalized before deeper in the country's grassroots," he said.
He added that cases pending ruling still remained a challenge that the incoming Chief Justice should prepare to tackle.
Senator Wako urged the Senate to take up the challenge before the house and rise above narrow partisan politics as urged by Dr Mutunga in his address on Wednesday.
"I also believe the Senate can save the nation out of the ethnic intolerance and divisive politics welling up in leadership and the electorate," he said.
