A day after a section of Kiambu MCAs announced that they had written to the speaker of the Senate to dismiss the Kiambu senator, another group of MCAs came out in a quick rejoinder to defend the senator.
Led by Uthiru ward MCA David Thandi and his Limuru ward Njenga Murugami, the group said that those calling for Wamatangi's dismissal are just playing cheap politics.
"There is no time that we have heard that money has failed to come from the national government to our county. So, the senator is doing his work. We at the county level are the ones failing," said Thandi.
The duo said that Wamatangi is usually aggressive in the Senate while noting that he had never been invited to Kiambu County assembly.
"For the senator to come to the assembly, there must be a formal invitation from the speaker and he has never been invited and failed", said Njenga.
The two urged the other anti-Wamatangi MCAs to think of how to address the most pressing issues facing the county than removing the senator from office.
