Kiambu County Senator Kimani Wamatangi has dismissed claims by the county Governor William Kabogo that he has abdicated his role of defending the county in the Senate.

Addressing the press in Kiambu town Monday, Wamatangi defended himself saying that he takes his Senatorial roles seriously.

Senator Wamatangi noted that he has a right to question the county government activities when it goes contrary to the law.

“My role as Kiambu Senator is clear and I am representing the county well in the Senate,” said Wamatangi.

Senator Wamatangi said that Governor Kabogo must accept criticisms in order for him and other leaders under him to perform better.

He also said that it is high time the county government concentrated on real issues facing the people and to find a lasting solutions to such problems once and for all.

Senator Wamatangi said that he will continue to pressure the county to exercise accountability and transparency in use of national resources.

He urged the public to take keen interest and seek involvement in key decisions being made by the county government.

Wamatangi added that the senate will continue to defend devolution noting that devolution was meant to provide services closer to the people.
