Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has pleaded with NASA leader Raila Odinga urging him to support president Uhuru Kenyatta's government development agenda.
Wamatangi says that Raila should drop the political differences he has with president Kenyatta and help him serve Kenyans.
The Jubilee senator said that Raila is a state’s man whose contribution is greatly needed in building the nation.
Speaking at St John Happy Valley ACK Church in Thika on Sunday, senator Wamatangi said that Raila’s continued confrontation with the Jubilee government is causing anxiety and tension in the country.
He said that while Raila has the right to push for electoral reforms and justice, the same needs to be done through the right channels.
“We recognize the role Raila has played in shaping the country’s political space over the years but he has to dissociate himself from selfish politicians who are misadvising him against Jubilee regime,” he said.
Wamatangi claimed that some politicians in the opposition are keen on ruining Raila’s political career that he has built over the years.
“Raila has to be careful about people around him because they are the same people plotting for his downfall,” he added.
The Jubilee senator said that president Kenyatta needs Raila’s supports to leave a good legacy at the end of his second term in 2022.
Raila Odinga has maintained that they (NASA) do not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
On January, 30, Raila took oath as the people's president at Uhuru Park and has been quoted saying that NASA is pushing to have fresh presidential election in August.
Raila insists that they (NASA) will fight for electoral justice and reforms and that their push is unstoppable.
Pressure has been mounting on President Uhuru Kenyatta to dialogue with Raila over the electoral reforms agenda.
