Speaking on Monday in Gilgil, Wangare said women should not be judged from where they come from, but on the basis of service delivery.

She said some antagonists want her not to vie for the Gilgil parliamentary seat since her county of birth is Murang’a.

“People should understand that a woman leader has two sides in her: one as a leader and as the person who heads her family and in this case, they should concentrate on what I endeavour to deliver and get them a step ahead of where we are but not on the basis of where I come from or as an outsider,” she said.

The Senator further said Gilgil has lagged behind in major infrastructural development as the town has poor planning and sewer lines have become a nightmare.

She also said availability of water is still a challenge and she is better placed to handle the issues.

“There is so much that Gilgil has lacked and as a leader, I have a clear mind on the things I want to do for them starting with opening up the area by building of roads and providing clean water with ease,” she said.

She also said she asked the national government to build Great Rift Valley road which will ease traffic congestion at Gilgil weighbridge which has become a notorious spot over traffic jam.
