A legislator has told Kenyatta National Hospital CEO Lily Koros to step aside to pave way for thorough investigations into rape claims at the facility.

Nominated Senator Rose Nyamunga said on Wednesday in an interview that authorities may not conduct effective investigations when Koros is still in office.

"I am not politicking, but the truth be told the best thing for Ms Koros to do is to step aside to allow investigations done. These are serious allegations," she said.

There was outrage in the country on Friday over a Facebook post detailing allegations of abuse at Kenyatta National Hospital.

The rape allegations contained in a Facebook group known as "Buyer Beware" accused the hospital of being "a hotspot of all kinds of criminal activities".

The claims were raised last week Friday but hospital boss Lily Koros said they do not have records of complaints.

She said they asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to investigate but added no woman had reported rape any incident to police.
