According to Omogeni, Nyamira County currently has a limited number of trained nurses and doctors because students have preferred taking teaching courses.

“We don’t have enough trained doctors and nurses in Nyamira because some parents have forced their children to take up teaching courses and some joining the police boss.

"I wish to urge parents to push their children to join KMTC so that we can have more people training in the medical field in the future,” he said.

He assured that every year he will be helping at least 20 students to be enrolled at KMTC in Nyamira, Kisii and other branches across the country.

The senator stated that parents should not fear that the children will drop school due to lack of school fees to force their children join bad courses which will take them too long to get jobs.

“Parents should not fear huge fees being paid at KMTC, these days we have CDF bursaries at the constituency level, county bursaries and Affirmative Action funds which parents should apply to help them in settling fee balances for their children at colleges,” he added.
