Nakuru Senator James Mungai has called on the county government to track and submit all the mayoral chains in the county to the transitional authority. Mungai cited that if sold, the chains would generate income and revenue for the county which would in turn boost its income. “We would like investigations as to how the chains had disappeared since the county government took over power. They should have been kept safe and well protected,” said Mungai. According to Mungai, the chains were not only expensive but also held an important part of the history of the county. He cited that they were assets which belonged to the public and hence should be beneficial to them. "They should heed the transitional authority plea to have all those chains returned," he said. He noted that the gold chains were worth millions of shillings and were worn by chairmen and mayors in the defunct county governments. "One of the chains can cost between Sh 10 million to 15 million which could be directed to important projects," he said.
