This comes amid speculations that the Jubilee Party is working towards convincing Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko to vie for the Mombasa governor seat and leave the Nairobi seat to Water Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa.

Speaker on Tuesday, Omar who has also declared interest in the Mombasa governor seat, faulted the Jubilee administration for allegedly forcing the country to accept leaders who do not have the interests of the electorates at heart.

“Someone who doesn't come from Mombasa does not know what people in Mombasa want and there is no way one can represent people who he doesn't associate with,” said Omar.

The senator urged Mombasa residents to shun such leaders and only vote in leaders who are ready to solve the challenges in the county.
