Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party, saying the political outfit is not keen on electoral reforms.

The Senator claimed that Jubilee is afraid of losing in the repeat presidential election and is using all means and tactics to sabotage electoral reforms.

Addressing residents in Makueni Town on Wednesday, Mutula Junior said NASA’s quest for electoral reforms before the repeat poll is giving the President Uhuru-led party sleepless nights.

“Jubilee is afraid of being defeated and that is why they are opposing the electoral reforms we (NASA) are advocating for,” he said.

The vocal Senator accused Jubilee of allegedly defending IEBC officials accused of bungling the August 8 presidential election that was nullified by the Supreme Court.

He also accused Jubilee of using its numbers in the National Assembly and Senate to frustrate electoral justice.

Mutula Junior said NASA will not relent in its push for reforms, and hit out at Jubilee MPs for allegedly amending election laws without involving opposition leaders and Kenyans.

He claimed that Jubilee is using its numbers to undermine and infringe on the constitutional rights of Kenyans.

The Senator also defended NASA leader Raila Odinga’s withdrawal from the presidential race, adding that the move is within the confines of the law.

He asked IEBC to order for fresh nominations and elections.
