Makueni Health executive Andrew Mulwa has said that he will not be contesting for the area’s senatorial seat during the next general polls.
In an interview with the Star, Mulwa said that he opted to shelf his senatorial dream after Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana asked him to do so.
He also said that he did not find it right to go against the the advise of the two leaders after they signed a pact that saw the governor leave Muungano Party to Wiper.
The aspirant further said that joining the race for the area’s senatorial seat would have jeopardized Kalonzo’s chances of being named National Super Alliance(NASA) flag bearer.
“Kalonzo told me that my entry into the senator race may hinder his chances of being NASA’s flagbearer since it will appear like there is no unity in his backyard,” he said.
The departure of Mulwa is a great boost for Mutula as he seeks to defend his seat in the next general polls.
On his side, Kalonzo has been calling upon leaders from his home turf to unite in order to increase his chances of rising.
