Mombasa senator hopeful Hamisi Mwaguya has officially embarked on his campaign ahead of the August general election.Mwaguya has assured women in the county of better health care services once he ascends to power after August 8.The politician took his senatorial campaign to the Coast Provincial General Hospital maternity wing on Saturday where he interacted with mothers. Speaking during his visit at the facility, Mwaguya said women and children were severely affected with the doctors strike, adding that he does not hope for the same to recur in the near future. He urged the national government to collaborate with the county government to ensure the health sector offers better services to Mombasa residents.“There is need for the national and the county governments to work together to improve the maternal health in the country,” said Mwaguya, as quoted by the Star. The aspirant further pledged to advocate for an increment in the funds allocated to the health sector if elected senator. Mwaguya is seeking to replace Senator Omar Hassan who has joined the race to unseat Governor Hassan Joho.
