Muturi said the role played by Senators cannot be underestimated since they oversee the counties.

The Speaker further explained  that the Parliamentary Service Commission was mandated to facilitate the Senators the same way it does to MPs to perform their core functions effectively, which was not the case.

His sentiments came amid an outcry by Senators to be allocated funds to perform their oversight duties in their respective areas of jurisdiction.

According to Muturi, the National Parliament was a multiparty democracy where divergent views from elected leaders should not be taken as enmity.

Kituti Chache South MP Richard Onyonka on his part commended Education minister Fred Matinang'i for his efforts in transforming the sector through positive reforms.

Borabu MP Ben Momanyi petitioned President Uhuru Kenyatta to accept resignations of some IEBC commissioners who had expressed their wish to go home.

Momanyi claimed the move will facilitate current initiatives to break the ice on the controversy stalking the electoral body ahead of 2017 general election.

The leaders were speaking during a fundraiser at Eronge SDA Boarding Primary School in Borabu sub-county on Friday where over Sh3 million was raised.

The money is part of the estimated Sh14 million needed to aid the construction of two dormitories that were razed by lightening earlier this year,.
