Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has called on the national government to allow Congolese muscian Kofi Olomide in teh country.
Olomide is expected to perform at the devolution conference that will be held in Kakamega.
Speaking on Tuesday, Malala further dismissed claims that there is a plan to pay Olomide Sh20 million for the performance.
He said that Olomide's performance is courtesy of a group of independent individuals.
“There have been allegations that the county government is spending Ksh.20 million to pay Koffi Olomide to come and entertain our guests. I have engaged with the governor on that issue… the governor is just facilitating by hosting the musician," said Malala.
“We are not using county funds to pay Koffi Olomide, we are using county facilities, and they are even paying the county to be hosted here… these are local boys who invested and said they want to take this opportunity to entertain our visitors,” Malala added.
The government had stated that Olomide will not be welcomed back into the country after he deported two years ago for assaulting a female band member at the Kenyatta International Airport.
