Nyamira County senator Okong’o Omogeni has asked Nyamira County governor to ensure his government invests more on the health sector.
The senator said Nyamira County referral hospital should have modern equipments to treat ailment such as cancer.
He claimed that most people from the county are have difficulties seeking medical care out side the county because the county hospital lacks modern equipments to treat cancer and other diseases.
“In Nyamira we are lacking modern equipment which should be used to treat serious diseases such as cancer.
"It is time Governor Nyagarama’s administration should move with speed and purchase modern equipments so that poor residents don’t sell their land and other property to travel out side the country to seek medical care,” he said.
He challenged health officers to ensure that they are offering quality services to residents.
The senator urged the government to send foreign doctors who were hired to Nyamira County hospital to serve the people.
“The government announced that foreign doctors will be in the country on a contract basis, Nyamira should also have one or two doctors who will be helping the current doctors we have to treat patients,” he noted.
