Wa Iria was scheduled to appear before the Senate Public Accounts and Investment Committee but was send away when he showed up in the evening.

The county boss made entry into the room just moments after chair Anyang Nyong'o had declared that he will be punished for failing to show up on time to answer to audit queries.

As a punishment, Wa Iria was ordered to meet expenses of his county officers who had turned up earlier for the grilling.

Senators Boni Khalwale (Kakamega), John Lonyangapuo (West Pokot) and Kimani Wamatangi (Kiambu) supported Nyong'o directive.

They maintained that it is a must for governors to appear before the committee.
