The meeting was supposed to be attended by the political leaders like governors, MPs, senators, speakers, MCAs and other foreign guests as revealed by the chair of governors’ council, Peter Munya. However, senators threatened not to attend the meeting saying that governors have taken over some roles which were supposed to be handled by the senate. The senators also accused the governors of sidelining other important stakeholders. They also said the governors intend to use the meeting for self-glorification.

The devolution meeting will be held at Meru National Polytechnic with more than 6,000 people attending. The meeting will also be opened officially by President Kenyatta and will run through Saturday.

However, some business people in Kibera have accused the governors of not fulfilling their promises. They urged President Kenyatta to address the issue of money allocation at the meeting.

Kevin Musai said the CDF should be distributed equally and called the leaders to account if the money will not be used well.
